Cookie Policy

Which cookies this site uses

This site uses a short list of cookies. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not place third-party marketing pixels.

If you reject the banner, only `rw_session` and `rw_consent` are set — those are strictly necessary for the site to remember your choice.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store, so the next time you load a page the browser can hand that file back and the site can recognise you — remembering, for example, that you have already dismissed a notice or that you prefer a specific layout. Cookies cannot read other files on your device, they cannot run programs and they cannot infect your computer with anything. They are a storage mechanism, nothing more.

Changes to this policy

If we add or remove a cookie from the list above, this page is rewritten and the change is announced on the home page for seven days. If a new third-party service brings its own cookies — an analytics tool, a comment system, anything of that kind — it goes into the table above before it ships, not after.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count how many readers land on each page and which pages lead to Runewager outbound clicks. The data we see is aggregated by page, country and device type — we do not see individual visitors by name or email. Google Analytics sets its own cookies (`_ga`, `_gid`) and transmits data to Google. If you prefer not to be counted, reject the banner on your first visit or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Affiliate cookies

When you click an outbound link to Runewager, you are handed off to the operator and the operator sets its own cookies on its own domain. Those cookies belong to Runewager, not to us, and they are governed by its privacy and cookie policy, which you can read on its site. From our side, we only receive the aggregate click count — not the identifier of any individual reader.
