How we use what we collect
The server logs are used in three ways. First, to keep the site running — to see which pages are slow, which images fail and which browsers are breaking the layout. Second, to count how many readers land on each page and which pages the editorial desk should rewrite because they are drawing the most traffic. Third, to count affiliate clicks so we can match our figures to the ones Runewager reports to us.
We do not profile individual visitors. We do not build an advertising audience from this data. We do not sell the logs. If a reader emails us about an issue on a specific page, we may look at the server log for that page around the time of the message to check what the reader actually saw — that is the deepest we ever go into the logs for an individual visitor.
Who we share data with
We share data with three categories of third party, and only when a specific function needs it. First, the hosting provider that serves this site — it receives the raw web requests because it is the service answering them. Second, Runewager — when you click an outbound link to the operator, your browser is handed off to Runewager and from that moment Runewager’s own privacy notice applies, not ours. Third, the email service we use to receive editorial mail — your address goes through its servers to reach our inbox.
We do not share data with advertising networks, we do not run programmatic ads on this site and we do not place pixels from social networks on our pages. The only outbound call this site makes is the click to Runewager via the /go-now/ page, and that call does not include anything you have not already typed or clicked.
How long we keep it
Server logs are kept for 90 days and then rotated out. Click counts are kept in aggregate — the number of clicks per page per month — for as long as this site is live, because that is operational history we need to make editorial calls. Editorial email, if it leads to a correction on a page, is kept with the correction note for the life of that page. Editorial email that does not lead to a change is deleted after a year.
If you want your email removed from the editorial inbox before the one-year rotation, write to privacy@rune-wager.com with the subject line "Delete my message" and the date it was sent. We will confirm the deletion inside five working days. We cannot delete anonymous server log entries for a specific visitor because the logs do not identify individuals by name or email.
How we protect it
This site is served over HTTPS, which keeps the connection between your browser and our server encrypted end to end. Our hosting account is protected by a password manager and two-factor authentication on every login. The editorial email mailbox is on a mainstream provider that applies the same two-factor rule, and only the two editors on the Team page have access to it.
We do not store any card data on this site — we do not process payments. We do not store any Runewager account data on this site — we do not have access to Runewager accounts. The narrow set of data we do hold (server logs, aggregate click counts, editorial email) sits on servers we administer; if any of that is ever exposed in a security incident, we will post a notice on the home page and email anyone whose message we were still holding.
What we collect
This site collects a narrow set of information from visitors. We log standard web request data when you load a page — IP address, browser user agent, the referring URL, which pages were viewed and in what order, and the time of each request. When you click a Runewager link from one of our pages, that click is counted so we can see which pages lead to sign-ups, but the click itself does not carry any name, email or personal detail that you have not already given to us.
If you email the editorial desk, we keep your address and the message so we can reply and so we can refer back to it if the same question comes up again. We do not use that address for marketing, we do not add it to a newsletter and we do not share it with the Runewager operator or any third party. We do not run an on-site account system — there is nothing on this site to log into, no password to set and no payment to process.
